The walk began at Murtala Square with a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by the First Lady. It marked the culmination of the 2026 breast cancer awareness month, widely known as Pink October.
Participants walked through Waff Road towards Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, continuing through Independence Way and Katsina Road. Along the route, the exercise brought the awareness campaign into public spaces across central Kaduna.
The Kaduna State Government organised the event in collaboration with the You-Nion Healing Empowerment Initiative and the Think Pink Foundation. Participants distributed informational flyers about breast cancer awareness, screening and recognising warning signs that warrant medical attention.
Government officials, health advocates, stakeholders and members of the public took part, demonstrating solidarity with patients and survivors and drawing attention to early detection and timely treatment.
